Frozen in time

It was a strange, almost full moon New Year's Eve... with close to -20 degrees outside. Holding your breath you may be able to catch a photo without weird white breath balloons on it....  It was a magical and beautiful night, that started the time when everything froze....

In the middle of the day it was beautiful if the sun appeared, magical. Yes, this is as high as the sun rises during the shortest days of the year round Christmas....

Sunsets were beautiful (about 3pm in this picture....) Untouched snow. Traditional Finnish farm house in the background. This is where I come from. THIS is my heritage, THIS is my country....

Then the temperatures got lower and everything froze. There was this small little beautiful magical frosty mist everywhere and it stuck to everything. (this is the kids' playground right in front of our apartment)

Nature became like a page from a fairy tale! Little crystals sparkling everywhere. So magical!

I am so blessed to see this wonderful childhood winter of Finland yet once more!

To you who don't know the backgrounds, there hasn't been too much snow in Helsinki the past years... hardly any. The last winter for us here before leaving to Aus we had no snow the whole winter, and now we've had many times more than past years put together! How lucky are we ey?

Although the winter is beautiful, and reasonable with the temperatures now that the Siberian winds are gone, I can't help to wonder what really matters in life? The weather, people, present, past, future.... what is THE thing that actually makes a difference right now?

What if OK just isn't good enough? Puzzling thought...

    Hi there

What a incredibly beautiful pictures! I can almost feel the winter fresh wind, coldness and softness of snow ...and freeze But really awesome photos

I just talked to my sister (a week ago) about how people moving back and forth between Finland and Australia again and again (or between some another countries) and they will come dissatisfied where ever they are (and I don't mean by this that you are)

You know, now when you returned to Finland it was changed and at the same time (while you have live in Finland)Australia has change a bit too. It's not the same anymore.

I just wanna to give you one aspect to consider and "a little warning" <3

With hugs, Sari and warm greetings from rest of us to you all
